How do you buy?

What is your personal process when buying a big ticket item (car, boat, house, etc)? Never thought about it? Well you have one, everyone does, and it’s this process that both managers and candidates alike go through in deciding to offer someone a job or to accept one.

So if you’re a candidate and you like all the product information you better find yourself on the web scanning company information (Financials, Products lines, Industry Trends, etc.) and begin the process of getting all the pertinent details that will allow you to make a quality decision when, and if, the time comes.

Conversely if you’re the company you need to get references and utilize the hiring process of your company to lean on the thoughts and opinions of others to assist you in reaching a decision and making a good hire.

However, please remember that no matter how lax or rigid your process is there will always be some unknowns out there and therefore all decisions carry risks (as your financial advisor will tell you). So get your information, process it as you will, but understand in the end you’ll have to feel comfortable with that decision or else it won’t matter what the indicators tell you to do.
